San Jose Teen Table Tennis Player Makes Impact At Olympic Games


SAN JOSE (KCBS) — A high school student from San Jose has surprised the world with her table tennis skills at the Olympic Games in London.

16-year-old Ariel Hsing, a student at Valley Christian High School, upset former world champion Ni Xia Lian in the second round over the weekend. In the third round, Hsing narrowly lost to Li Xiaoxia, who is ranked second in the world.

Hsing has been playing since she was 8-years-old and has trained for years at the ICC Table Tennis Center in Milpitas. At Valley Christian, staffers knew the incoming senior was a force to be reckoned with.
